Students Learn Gristmill's Role in History and Conservation
10/15/2009
 Classes from Windham Middle
School visited the Gurleyville Gristmill
recently, learning not only about the
historic use of the mill as a center of
agricultural activity, but also its present
role in conservation.
The field trip was jointly funded by
Trout Unlimited, sponsors of a classroom
program in which students hatch
trout eggs, nurture them, and then release
them in a local stream. Students
learned to identify aquatic insects
whose presence reveal water quality.
The Trust’s contribution to the field
trip came from a grant from a 1772
Foundation grant.
